Debbie Mahaffey is a north east artist based in County Durham. The artist works from her studio with its origins in the 19th century. The studio was formerly a hay loft and workshop linked to her childhood home.

The portrait of Ruby is stunning the attention to detail is amazing the portrait is truly lifelike capturing the lively personality of our beautiful English springer spaniel. I am delighted with the oil portraits that Debbie has done of my two ‘boys’, Max and Finbar - golden retrievers. They hang side by side on the wall and are so true to life. Debbie has captured not just their physical appearances but also their distinct and very different characters: cheeky chappy ‘cream’ in colour Finbar and calm and dignified ‘golden’ Max. The friends who have seen them have been very admiring - think they are great. The boys themselves have yet to comment.

This week all direct doorstep milk customers will be receiving a Christmas card. The star of the Christmas card this year is our heifer Ruby. Now approaching her first birthday, she caught the eye of local artist Debbie Mahaffey when visiting her brother in law (our Herd Manager Barry) last spring. Many of you will have seen the original Ruby when Debbie joined us for our open evenings in September. Special thanks to Greg at Ambient Creative for giving Ruby her new antlers! We love them.
